For my first post.. I thought I’d share how I’ve tackled setup of Microsoft Office 2016 in our university environment for both shared lab & staff Macs.
Settings configured:
- Update Autoupdate (ironic, no?)
- Remove first run pop-ups/telemetry
- Personalise the apps user info
- Set all apps in the suite to auto update
- Disable insider updates
- First publish of scripts and plist files. These were referenced during the 2016 PSU MacAdmins presentation “Managing Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac, Part Deux”.
- Autosave File Location Plist. We have had issues with out autosave functionality when the file location is set to the default location. It saves deep within the libary/containers.so on. We have found though that this can be hit or miss of actually autosaving the files as we have had multiple peoples office crash and lose all their work (they.
All of this setup in a single script, deployed via a JAMF Pro policy which I also include pkg installers from https://macadmins.software.
This is much easier to update & more reliable than previous mixed pkg/dmg/script setups I’ve had in the past..
